Liz grew up around the restaurant industry spending every weekend and every Thanksgiving at her aunt and uncle’s restaurant on the Upper East Side. Fascinated by the energy and the discipline of the kitchen, she enrolled at The French Culinary Institute. After her externship at Daniel, she joined the kitchen team at the newly opened Babbo restaurant. She was then part of the opening team of Craft restaurant, where she met her now-husband, Chef Jonathan Benno. After spending time in Yountville, California, Jonathan and Liz came back to New York, where she embarked as sous-chef at Casa Mono and then Eataly in the Flatiron district. As her family expanded, Liz decided that she wanted to focus her work in the culinary world to support Jonathan, so she joined the marketing team at Lincoln Ristorante where he was the Chef. In 2018, they opened Benno & Leonelli restaurants and Liz currently runs the restaurants as Operations Manager.
